The special investigation team disclosed in a notice sent to the media that "Kim Keon-hee does not wish for a video-recorded investigation, so the questioning is being conducted without video recording." The team has been conducting the investigation of Mrs. Kim since 10:23 a.m.
Mrs. Kim appeared before the special investigation team as a suspect facing allegations of violating the Capital Markets Act, making false public statements under the Public Official Election Act, and violating the Public Service Ethics Act.
Mrs. Kim arrived at the Seoul KT Gwanghwamun building, where the special investigation team's office is located, at around 10:11 a.m. and stated on the 2nd floor photo line, "I apologize for causing concern to the people as someone like me, who is nothing," before entering the interrogation room. This is the first time a presidential spouse has publicly appeared before investigating authorities as a suspect.
The special investigation team is said to first investigate five major allegations surrounding Mrs. Kim, among about ten allegations, where some level of investigation has already been conducted.
The five major allegations include: ▲ suspicions of receiving luxury bags and necklaces through Jeon Seong-bae of Geonjin Beopsa and helping resolve Unification Church issues; ▲ allegations of involvement in stock manipulation of Deutsch Motors; ▲ suspicions of interference in the candidate nominations for the 2022 and 2024 elections.
