Former President Yoon Suk-yeol's wife, Kim Keon-hee, is not exercising her right to refuse to testify during the special prosecutor's investigation, according to the special prosecutor. Kim began receiving questioning at 10:23 a.m. After taking breaks, including for lunch, she is being questioned again starting from 4:30 p.m.
On that day, Kim appeared at the KT Building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, where the special prosecutor's office is located, around 10:11 a.m. This is the first time in history that a presidential spouse has publicly appeared as a suspect before investigative authorities. Kim, with her hair tied back, wore a black skirt suit and black dress shoes. She stated at the photo line on the second floor, "I apologize to the public for causing concern as someone like me, who is nothing," before entering the interrogation room.
According to the special prosecutor, Kim was questioned from 10:23 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. during the morning session. It is reported that she took a break of about 10 minutes during the morning questioning. For lunch, Kim ate a lunch box she had prepared herself.
Then, Kim received questioning starting from 1 p.m. The afternoon questioning was conducted from 1 p.m. to 2:14 p.m., from 2:24 p.m. to 2:40 p.m., and from 3:10 p.m. to 4:20 p.m., followed by a 10-minute break before resuming at 4:30 p.m. Kim took breaks of 10 to 30 minutes during the questioning.
The special prosecutor noted, "About half of the questioning has been completed, but the review time is taking longer, so there is a possibility it could take longer than expected."
They also said, "I understand that Kim has prepared a dinner lunch box as well."
They added, "We are referring to her as a suspect during the investigation, and the interrogation space is the same as the usual suspect interrogation space."
On that day, Kim is being investigated regarding 16 allegations specified in the special prosecutor act and what is referred to as the butler gate, which the special prosecutor newly discovered. The main allegations include: ▲ suspicions of interference in the nomination of former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Young-sun and former prosecutor Kim Sang-min during the 2022 by-election and 2024 general election ▲ suspicions of involvement in stock price manipulation involving Deutsch Motors and SAMBU Construction ▲ allegations of soliciting issues related to the Unification Church through a fortune teller ▲ suspicions of failing to report assets, such as a necklace worth around 60 million won.
