A man in his 50s killed two women, including his partner and an acquaintance, before jumping into the sea and dying. Police are investigating the motive for the murder by looking into suicide notes and conducting a forensic examination of his cellphone.
According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency on the 5th, a man in his 50s, referred to as A, was found in cardiac arrest around 5:25 p.m. on the 4th in the waters near the Machangdaegyo Bridge in Changwon, after being pursued by the police, and was transported to a hospital but died.
He is suspected of killing a woman, referred to as B, in her 50s in Gimhae around 1 p.m. on the day of the incident, and then moving to Jinhae-gu in Changwon around 3 p.m. to kill another woman, referred to as C, also in her 50s.
Police are investigating that the woman killed in Gimhae was in a relationship with A, while the woman killed in Jinhae-gu was an acquaintance of A.
After the two murders, A is reported to have contacted his family and asked them to check the suicide note, indicating he was contemplating taking extreme measures.
Through investigations of individuals close to the case, police believe that A had been in a relationship with B for about a year and that there had recently been conflicts regarding their relationship. They also suspect there were financial issues with C, whom he met through work.
Police are conducting digital forensics on A's cellphone to investigate their exact relationships and the motives behind the crimes.
However, police plan to conclude the case as 'no prosecution' due to the death of the suspect.
