The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 5th that starting from the first train on the 9th, it will expand the use of the Climate Companion Card service to include the subway section in Hanam city. This comes six months after the Seoul and Hanam cities signed a memorandum of understanding in February.
Accordingly, the Climate Companion Card can be used at four stations: Misa Station, Hanam Pungsan Station, Hanam City Hall Station, and Hanam Geomdansan Station. This means that the Climate Companion Card can now be used at all 56 stations on Line 5 of the metropolitan subway.
Seoul and Hanam cities are connected through the living areas centered on Line 5 of the subway. This includes major business districts in downtown such as Gwanghwamun and Yeouido, as well as cultural and commercial areas like Jamsil and Songpa.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government stated that as the areas eligible for the Climate Companion Card have expanded to Hanam city, the transportation benefits for citizens will also increase. The six bus routes (342, 3217, 3316, 3318, 3323, 3413) licensed by Seoul city that go through Hanam city can already use the Climate Companion Card.
The Climate Companion Card is a pass that allows unlimited use of public transportation, including buses and subways in Seoul, for a monthly fee of 60,000 won. For those aged 19 to 39, it is available for a monthly fee of 50,000 won.
Lee Jang-kwon, head of the Transportation Office of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, noted, "We will actively cooperate with relevant agencies to provide diversified policy benefits, such as customized discounts, in the future."
