Minister Yoon Ho-joong met with the bereaved families of the Itaewon tragedy on the 4th and said, "I will do my best to improve the system for truth-seeking and prevention of recurrence with a responsible attitude and to strengthen on-site safety management."
Minister Yoon visited the site of the Itaewon tragedy and the memorial space called "House of Stars" in the afternoon and spoke with the bereaved families.
He toured the memorial facilities, including the signposts, along the memorial road of remembrance and safety from October 29 and honored the spirits of the victims with flowers and a moment of silence.
Afterwards, Minister Yoon met with the bereaved families at the House of Stars in Jongno District, a space for commemorating and remembering the victims. He expressed condolences for the loss of precious family members due to the unexpected tragedy and listened to the opinions of the bereaved families.
Minister Yoon stated, "Healing from social tragedies requires efforts and attention that embrace the wounds of society as a whole, beyond the recovery of each individual victim," and asked for the participation of all citizens in remembering the pain of the tragedy and efforts to prevent its recurrence.
