A woman in her 50s, who severed her husband's vital body parts, and her son-in-law, who participated in the crime, appeared in court for a detention review at a cafe in Ganghwa-do, Incheon.
The woman, A (57), was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and entered the Incheon District Court on the afternoon of the 2nd for a pre-arrest interrogation. Her son-in-law, B, who is in his 30s and is also facing charges of attempted murder, was also seen arriving. They wore hats and masks to avoid revealing their faces.
A and B did not respond to reporters' questions about the reasons for their actions, whether they felt remorse for the victim, or if they acknowledged the charges of attempted murder. A reportedly claimed during police questioning that she acted because she suspected her husband's infidelity.
The detention review will be conducted from 2 p.m. under the presiding judge, Park Sang-hoon, at the Incheon District Court. A decision on whether to detain them is expected to be made later in the afternoon.
A is accused of repeatedly stabbing her husband C (in his 50s) in the face and arms with a weapon around 1 a.m. on the previous day at a cafe in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, and attempting to kill him by severing his vital body parts. Her son-in-law B, who was at the scene, is accused of assisting A's attempted murder by restraining C.
C was transported to a hospital for surgery and is reported to be in stable condition.
The cafe where the crime took place is understood to have only three people present at the time of the incident: the two suspects and C.
