A car crashed into a restaurant in Suji District, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. A woman in her 80s was reported to be severely injured and in cardiac arrest.
Around 2 p.m. on the 1st, a BMW sedan driven by a man in his 60s, referred to as Mr. A, crashed into a restaurant near Sanghyeon Station in Suji District, Yongin.
The accident occurred when Mr. A's vehicle entered the outdoor parking lot in front of the restaurant and crashed directly into the building. It reportedly struck the metal railing and large glass window in front of the restaurant, hitting the group inside before coming to a stop.
As a result of the crash, a woman in her 80s, referred to as Ms. B, who was inside the restaurant, was severely injured and transported to the hospital. It was reported that Ms. B showed signs of cardiac arrest shortly after arriving at the hospital and received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
In addition to Ms. B, two others suffered serious injuries, and four sustained minor injuries and were sent to the hospital for treatment.
All of the injured were reported to be relatives who had visited the restaurant after attending a funeral.
Mr. A stated during a police investigation that "the vehicle accelerated suddenly as soon as the parking lot barrier lifted." It has been found that no other violations, such as driving under the influence, were confirmed.
