Kim Keon-hee stated that on the morning of the 1st, the special investigation team attempted to execute an arrest warrant for Yoon Suk-yeol, the former president, who is incarcerated at the Seoul Detention Center; however, former President Yoon refused to be arrested while lying down without even putting on a gown.
On this day, Special Investigator Oh Jeong-hee said in an afternoon briefing, "We began executing the arrest warrant for former President Yoon at 8:40 a.m. today, but we were unable to complete it due to his firm refusal."
Special Investigator Oh noted, "Considering that the target of the arrest is a former president, we recommended that he comply voluntarily with the execution, but the suspect firmly refused while lying on the floor without even putting on a gown."
Special Investigator Oh said, "The special investigation team requested compliance with the execution four times at intervals of 20 to 30 minutes, but former President Yoon refused it," adding, "Thus, we halted the execution of the arrest warrant around 10:40 a.m., two hours after its initiation."
He further stated, "During today's execution, we refrained from using physical force due to concerns about safety, but we informed former President Yoon that physical force would be included in the execution next time to ensure completion."
Finally, Special Investigator Oh said, "The suspect has emphasized the principles of law, fairness, and common sense, and the public is watching to see if the law truly applies equally to everyone through this case," adding, "As a former prosecutor, prosecutor general, and president, the suspect is expected to cooperate with the special investigation team's law enforcement."
