Kim Keon-hee arrived at Seoul Detention Center on the 1st to execute an arrest warrant against former President Yoon Suk-yeol.
The special investigation team is expected to visit the Seoul Detention Center around 9 a.m. that day to attempt to summon former President Yoon to the special investigation team's office.
To execute the arrest warrant that day, the special investigation team deployed special investigator Moon Hong-joo and one prosecutor and one investigator from the special investigation team. The team plans to first advise former President Yoon to attend the special investigation, and if he refuses, they will go directly to the front of the holding cell and direct the guards to execute the arrest.
Former President Yoon is facing allegations of violating the Public Official Election Act for reportedly receiving a survey for free from political broker Myung Tae-gyeon during the 2022 presidential election campaign, in exchange for helping Kim Young-sun, a former member of the People Power Party, secure nomination in a by-election held the same year.
Former President Yoon has been detained at the Seoul Detention Center since the 10th, under the martial law special investigation team investigating the internal and external turmoil related to martial law. Since his detention, former President Yoon has refused to attend not only the investigation by the martial law special investigation team but also his trial.
