On the 31st, the court issued an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk-yeol in relation to the 'allegations of interference in nominations.'
Special counsel Kim Keon-hee stated that an arrest warrant had been issued for former President Yoon that morning. Previously, after former President Yoon failed to respond to two summons attempts, the special counsel requested an arrest warrant for him at 2:12 p.m. the day before.
Former President Yoon is accused of helping former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Young-sun secure a nomination in the by-elections held that year in exchange for receiving public opinion surveys for free from political broker Myung Tae-kyun during the 2022 presidential election.
Former President Yoon has been detained at the Seoul Correctional Institution since being arrested by the insurrection special counsel investigating the insurrection and foreign exchange incident related to the state of emergency on the 10th. Since his arrest, he has also refused to appear for both the insurrection special counsel investigation and the trial.
