Former President Yoon Suk-yeol did not attend the summons investigation for Kim Keon-hee on the 29th.
On the same day, former President Yoon did not comply with the first summons investigation for Kim Keon-hee scheduled for 10 a.m. The special investigation team had previously notified former President Yoon on the 21st to appear as a suspect for violating the Public Official Election Act.
Although it was the first summons investigation schedule 27 days after the special investigation team was launched on the 2nd, former President Yoon refused.
Former President Yoon's side has reportedly not provided any opinions regarding the summons request from the special investigation team. Previously, they stated it was difficult for him to attend due to health reasons related to the national security special investigation. Former President Yoon's side reported that he is having difficulty moving due to worsened diabetes and elevated liver enzyme levels.
Former President Yoon is suspected of having helped former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Young-sun receive a nomination in the by-election held that year in exchange for receiving opinion polls for free from political broker Myung Tae-kyun during the 2022 presidential election process.
The previously released transcript includes former President Yoon telling Myung on May 9, 2022, the day before the People Power Party by-election nomination announcement, "I worked hard for Kim Young-sun since the primary, so help her out a bit. There's a lot of talk about it. Within the party," and added, "I'll talk to Sang-hyeon (Representative Yoon) one more time. He is the head of the nomination committee."
Representative Yoon Sang-hyun, who was the head of the People Power Party nomination management committee at the time, reportedly testified during the special investigation on the 27th that he "had a conversation with former President Yoon regarding Kim's nomination."
In connection with this suspicion, the special investigation team is looking into whether former President Yoon exercised undue influence during the nomination process.
