This denies allegations that Kim Keon-hee delivered the Van Cleef necklace to hide it.
The Van Cleef necklace is known to have been worn by Kim Keon-hee when she attended a Korean community event in Spain with former President Yoon Suk-yeol during the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) summit schedule at the end of June 2022. If genuine, the necklace is estimated to be worth around 60 million won.
However, the Van Cleef necklace was not included in the asset list reported by former President Yoon, leading to controversy over the omission of asset declarations. Kim Keon-hee's side rebutted that the necklace is a fake, not a genuine one.
It is known that the special prosecutor discovered the Van Cleef necklace, bundles of cash worth 100 million won, and one piece from Lee Ufan's 'From Point' series during a search of Kim Jin-woo's mother-in-law's house on the 25th. The special prosecutor believes that contrary to Kim Keon-hee's statement given that day, she intended to deliver the necklace to Kim Jin-woo to hide it.
On that day, Kim Keon-hee's side stated regarding the search that, "The bundles of cash and the paintings found at the residence (Kim Jin-woo's mother-in-law's house) were completely unknown to Kim Keon-hee." They explained that it is "property of others unrelated to Kim Keon-hee."
They added that they plan to "fully clarify" the allegations concerning the Van Cleef necklace and others during future investigations.
