A post offering part-time work to make four rolls of gimbap every morning and leave them in front of a house for a meager 5,000 won per roll is gaining attention.
On the 28th, a post titled 'Part-time carrot job in our neighborhood' was uploaded on several online communities. The post contained details of a job announcement recently posted on the secondhand trading platform carrot. The author of the job announcement wrote, "We are looking for someone to wrap four rolls of gimbap around 7:30 a.m. every morning and leave them on the doorknob," adding, "We do not provide ingredients separately, but instead, I will give 5,000 won every day. There are occasional cases where only 2 to 3 rolls are needed, but the amount remains the same at 5,000 won." The author also said, "I hope many skilled cooks who can generously pack ingredients will apply."
By including all costs such as ingredient prices, labor fees, and delivery expenses in the 5,000 won offer, online reactions have followed with comments like "This is ridiculous," "It's hard even to find someone for 10,000 won," and "Someone who belittles others' efforts."
According to the Korea Consumer Agency (KCA), as of April, the price of one roll of gimbap is around 3,623 won. As of January 2023, the average cost of a single delivery is 3,000 won.
