A large fire broke out on a fishing boat that was docked at Sinjin Harbor in Geunheung-myeon, Taean-gun.
According to the fire department on the 26th, the fire started around 10:31 p.m. on a 32-ton fishing boat that was docked. The flames spread to nearby fishing boats, resulting in four being completely destroyed. There have been no confirmed casualties so far.
The fire department issued a second-level response alert at 10:58 p.m. and began firefighting operations, managing to contain the flames around 12:16 a.m. on the 27th. A second-level response involves the mobilization of 51-80 pieces of equipment from 8 to 14 fire stations.
The boats are secured to the harbor to prevent them from drifting away.
Taean-gun sent an emergency disaster text message to nearby residents advising them to evacuate around 11:05 p.m.
The Taean Coast Guard plans to investigate the detailed circumstances of the incident once the embers are cleared.
