The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 25th that it has opened a support center for solving public data issues for corporations.
The center supports corporations that are struggling to secure public data. The support target includes corporations that have applied for data provision or gone through dispute mediation but have not received the requested data from the holding institution.
Problem resolution applications can be made online at the Public Data Portal website or can be done in person at the National Information Society Agency (NIA).
The government plans to support various projects for corporations facing difficulties in securing data.
Lee Yong-seok, head of the Digital Government Innovation Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, "Public data is a key asset for the development of corporations' AI (artificial intelligence) products and services and enhancing national AI competitiveness," adding, "I will actively support the opening of public data necessary for corporations' research and development to promote Korea's leap to become a powerhouse in AI in the public sector as well."
