Park Cheol-woo (30th Judicial Research and Training Institute) has been appointed as the head of the Anti-Corruption Department at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office, overseeing nationwide anti-corruption investigations. Koo Ja-hyun (29th) has been appointed as the head prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, which supervises the largest prosecutor's office, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. Both individuals served in high-ranking positions in the prosecution under the Moon Jae-in administration before being appointed to their new roles under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.
On the 25th, the Ministry of Justice announced the appointment of 33 chief and senior prosecutors. Considering there are over 50 positions for these roles, more than half have changed. This marks the first large-scale senior personnel reshuffle since Minister Jeong Seong-ho took office.
The Ministry of Justice noted that they have appointed new talents after comprehensively assessing abilities, qualities, leadership and command capabilities, as well as trust from both inside and outside. They also mentioned that particularly capable female prosecutors have been appointed to key positions.
Cha Soon-gil (31st), head of the Criminal Division at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, has been promoted and appointed as the head of the Planning and Coordination Department at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office. Cha oversaw the re-investigation of Deutsch Motors at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office.
Kim Hyung-seok (32nd), head of the Daegu West District Prosecutors' Office, has been appointed as the head of the Drug and Organized Crime Division at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office. Jang Dong-cheol (30th) has been appointed as the head of the Criminal Division, Kim Do-wan (31st), the Inspector General of the Ministry of Justice, as the head of the Public Prosecution Division, while Cha Beom-jun (33rd), Deputy Chief of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, and Choi Young-ah (32nd), head of the Namyangju District Prosecutors' Office, have each been promoted to their respective roles.
Park Hyun-jun (30th), head of the Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office, will transfer to the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office. Lim Seung-cheol (31st), Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office, will take over as head of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office. Park Jae-eok (29th), head of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, will move to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, while Park Young-bin (30th), head of the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office, has been appointed to the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office.
Kim Chang-jin (31st), head of the Planning Department at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, has been appointed head of the Busan District Prosecutors' Office, while Lee Man-heum (32nd), a professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, has been appointed head of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office. Lee Eung-cheol (33rd), spokesperson at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office; Seo Jeong-min (31st), head of the Yongin branch of the Judicial Research and Training Institute; and Park Hyuk-soo (32nd), Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, have each been promoted to their respective roles.
Park Hyun-cheol (31st), Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, has been appointed as head of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office. Shin Dae-kyung (32nd), the Ministry of Justice's litigation advisory officer, has been appointed head of the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office. Moon Hyun-cheol (32nd), head of the Human Rights Policy Division at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office, has been appointed head of the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office, while Yoo Do-yun (32nd), Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, has also been promoted.
Among female prosecutors, Kim Hyang-yeon (32nd), Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office, has been promoted to the level of chief prosecutor and newly appointed as head of the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office. Park Sung-min (31st), Deputy Chief of the Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office, and Jeong Soo-jin (33rd), Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office, have also been appointed to their respective roles.
Meanwhile, Park Young-jin (31st), head prosecutor at the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office, which indicted former President Moon Jae-in and his daughter for bribery, has been appointed as a research fellow at the Judicial Research and Training Institute. This position is classified as a dead-end job in the prosecution as it does not involve any investigation. Jeong Yoo-mi (30th), head prosecutor who investigated allegations of involvement in the nomination of Myung Tae-kyun, along with Lee Young-rim (30th), head prosecutor at the Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office, and Heo Jeong (31st), head of the Scientific Investigation Division at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office, have also been appointed as research fellows at the Judicial Research and Training Institute.
