The Ministry of the Interior and Safety noted on the 25th that it will inspect the on-site safety management status at the Boryung Mud Festival and Daecheong Beach on the 26th.
This inspection targets areas expected to draw large crowds ahead of the start of the summer vacation season.
The mud festival, taking place in Boryung from this day, attracts more than 1 million visitors each year, including foreigners. Additionally, Daecheong Beach in Boryung welcomes over 5 million vacationers annually.
This inspection will be conducted jointly by related agencies, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, South Chungcheong Province, Boryung City, Boryung Police Station, and Boryung Fire Station. They will check individual agencies' duties and collaboration systems to ensure that no casualties occur during various risky situations, such as crowd density and adverse weather.
In addition, the ministry plans to select some of the重点管理 대상 해수욕장 (key management target beaches) that see an average of over 5,000 visitors per day to check whether proper on-site safety management is being implemented.
Hong Jong-wan, the head of the Disaster Management Division at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, "In places where many people gather, such as summer festivals and beaches, a small oversight can lead to major accidents, and we will work together with all related agencies to ensure thorough on-site safety management so that the public can enjoy their summer vacations safely."
