The Jeonbuk State Teachers' Union (Jeonbuk Kyochon) held a press conference at the Jeonbuk Office of Education on the 23rd, stating that 'a regional education support office's committee for protecting teachers' rights determined that sending obscene messages to a female teacher was not an infringement of educational activities,' and demanded the decision be retracted.
Jeonbuk Kyochon said, 'This student's behavior is a clear case of sexual harassment, yet the committee for protecting teachers' rights made this decision for dubious reasons stating that it was not relevant to educational activities,' and added that it contradicts the Ministry of Education's manual, which defines obscene acts via communication media as serious sexual violence and infringement of teachers' rights.
The organization stated, 'Because of this, the separation measures between the teacher and the student have not been implemented, leaving the affected teacher effectively abandoned,' and demanded a retraction of the decision and prompt protective measures for the affected teacher.
