One person who had been missing due to heavy rain in Sancheong County, Gyeongnam, has been found dead.
According to the Disaster Response Integrated Support Headquarters in Sancheong County, a body was discovered around 11:25 a.m. on the 23rd near the Kyungho River rest area in Sinan-myeon, Sancheong County, buried underground.
The support headquarters estimated that this body is that of an 80-year-old monk who went missing on the 19th from Sinan-am in Oesong-ri. It was found five days after the disappearance, and as the body has decomposed, it is expected to take time to verify the identity.
The number of fatalities from the heavy rain and landslides in Sancheong County has increased to 13, while the number of missing persons has decreased to one. From the 16th to 5 p.m. on the 20th, 793.5 mm of rain poured down on Sancheong County.
In the Dolsam Recreational Forest area of Gapyeong County, a man whose identity is unknown was found dead around 10:40 a.m. It is presumed to be a man in his 50s who was reported missing in the Deokhyeon-ri area, but there is also a possibility of additional unreported casualties. The police are working to verify the identity of this man.
The total number of people reported missing due to the heavy rain in the Gapyeong area includes two persons, a mother and child from the landslide at Miley Campground, one person from the Daebo Bridge village area, and one person from Deokhyeon-ri, totaling four. The number of confirmed fatalities so far is four.
