A man in his 60s, referred to as Mr. A, who is accused of murdering his son with a homemade firearm in Songdo, Incheon, has not provided a specific motive during police questioning.
According to the police on the 22nd, Mr. A, who is currently being investigated by the Yeonsu Police Station in Incheon, only stated, 'There were family conflicts,' when asked about the motive for the crime. The police are continuing to press him, but he reportedly deflected the questions by saying, 'Please don't try to know.' Mr. A has indicated that he will not attend the preliminary examination for arrest at the Incheon District Court scheduled for 2 p.m. on the same day.
However, when asked what he planned to do after the crime, Mr. A reportedly mentioned that he intended to go to the Han River or Misari to take his own life.
Mr. A is accused of killing his son, Mr. B (33), by firing a homemade firearm in their apartment located on the 33rd floor of a building in Songdo International City, Yeonsu District, Incheon, around 9:31 p.m. on the 20th. At the time, Mr. B was hosting a birthday party for his father. Mr. A's daughter-in-law and two grandchildren were also in the house during the incident. He had also installed explosives in his apartment located in Ssangmun-dong, Dobong District, Seoul, which were set to ignite at noon on the 21st.
Mr. A divorced his wife, a representative of a well-known aesthetic company, 20 years ago. It is reported that there were conflicts between him and his son, Mr. B, regarding the reason for the divorce.
