The autopsy results released on the 22nd indicate that the cause of death of the son, related to the incident in which a father shot his son with a homemade firearm in Incheon, is presumed to be organ damage caused by the gunfire.
According to the Incheon Yeonsu Police Station on that day, the National Forensic Service performed an autopsy on the body of the deceased son, A (33), on the 20th, and provided initial verbal findings to the police, stating, "It is presumed that he died due to organ damage caused by gunshot wounds to the right chest and left abdominal area (side)." The police plan to verify the detailed autopsy results through tissue and toxicology tests from the National Forensic Service.
A was shot and killed by a bullet fired from a homemade firearm by his father, B (62), around 9:31 p.m. on the 20th in their apartment on the 33rd floor in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. On that day, A celebrated his father's birthday with his wife, two children, and a friend.
B fled immediately after the crime but was captured by the police early on the 21st. He stated to the police that he had installed a homemade bomb at his home in Ssangmun-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul. Subsequently, the police special forces discovered 15 incendiary substances, including a pet bottle containing thinner, detergent containers, and milk cartons, at the scene of B's home. It is reported that this homemade bomb was set with a timer to ignite at noon on the 21st.
B, for whom an arrest warrant has been requested on murder charges, only stated in the police investigation when asked about the motive for the crime, "There were family disputes." The police plan to further investigate B's motive for the crime by deploying two profilers from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and Incheon Police Agency.
