The special prosecutor stated that they summoned former Director Yoon as a suspect starting around 9:40 a.m. According to the special prosecutor, former Director Yoon arrived at the KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno District, where the special prosecutor's office was set up, around 6 a.m. and waited before entering the interrogation room.
Former Director Yoon is accused of giving two Chanel bags worth 20 million won from April to June 2022 and a UK Graff diamond necklace and Cheonsusam concentrated extract worth around 60 million won from June to August 2022 to Jeon Sung-bae as part of a scheme to solicit Unification Church issues from Kim Keon-hee (under the Severe Punishment of Specific Crimes Act for bribery and other charges).
Specifically, former Director Yoon is at the center of allegations that he solicited issues, including the public development aid (ODA) project for the site development of the Mekong River in Cambodia, acquisition of YTN, and invitations to the presidential inauguration ceremony, through Jeon.
On the 18th, the special prosecutor also conducted searches at former Director Yoon's residence in Seoul, the Unification Church headquarters church, and the Unification Church World Headquarters in Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province. After being notified to appear on the morning of the 20th at 10 a.m., former Director Yoon postponed his schedule and appeared that day.
