It was reported that the special prosecutor for the rebellion is summoning former Director of the National Intelligence Service, Lee In-hyung, for questioning on the 22nd regarding allegations of interference with the National Assembly's vote to lift the martial law during the emergency martial law on December 3.
According to the legal community, the special prosecutor notified former Director Lee to receive an investigation as a witness at 2 p.m. that day.
The special prosecutor is expected to investigate whether former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun and intelligence officials were involved in allegations of obstruction of the People Power Party lawmakers' vote to lift the martial law during the emergency martial law.
Former Director Lee is undergoing a first trial after being arrested and indicted on December 31 last year for serious offenses related to the martial law and abuse of power. He faces additional charges of perjury as the six-month detention period for the first trial approaches, and a detention warrant was issued on the 30th of last month, resulting in his current incarceration at the military prison.
