Kim Keon-hee's special investigation team has confirmed that they are conducting a search and seizure at the Export-Import Bank in connection with the Cambodian economic cooperation fund of former President Yoon Suk-yeol's administration.
The special investigation team is conducting a search and seizure at the headquarters of the Export-Import Bank located in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, this morning. This compulsory investigation is believed to be carried out to investigate the correlation between the government's Cambodian official development assistance (ODA) project and the 'Ganjin Lawsa solicitation allegation.'
The Unification Church is suspected of delivering two luxury Chanel bags worth 10 million won each, alongside a Graf diamond necklace valued at 60 million won, to Kim Keon-hee through Chon Seong-bae of Ganjin Lawsa in order to secure this project.
Around the time of the solicitation made by former World Headquarters Director Yoon Young-ho, who was regarded as the second-in-command of the Unification Church, on June 13, 2022, the government increased the limit for loans from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) for Cambodia from the previous $700 million to $1.5 billion.
The Export-Import Bank is the institution responsible for managing and operating the fund, which it has been entrusted with from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The special investigation team is reportedly planning to analyze the seized items to investigate the circumstances surrounding the increase in the loan limit for the EDCF to Cambodia.
