Kim Keon-hee's special investigation team is conducting a second search and seizure at the Unification Church's Seoul headquarters on the 21st in relation to the 'Geonjin Beopsa' solicitation allegations.
According to the legal community, the special investigation team has been sending investigators to the Unification Church's Seoul headquarters in Yongsan, starting from the morning of this day, to secure document materials and files in PCs.
Earlier, the special investigation team conducted a search and seizure of Unification Church facilities in Gapyeong and Seoul on the 18th. The team reportedly is conducting an additional search today as they had not completed the forensic work on the evidence secured at the Seoul headquarters at that time.
The special investigation team is investigating allegations that the Unification Church solicited improper favors for Kim Keon-hee through Jeon Seong-bae, who is suspected of having received a 'gift for Mrs. Kim' diamond necklace, Chanel bags, and soliciting church-related matters from Yun Mo, the former head of the Unification Church, from April to August 2022, and then delivering these to Mrs. Kim.
The solicitation content included support for the Unification Church's development project in the Mekong River in Cambodia, the acquisition of YTN by the Unification Church, the attraction of the UN's Fifth Office to Korea, and an invitation to the presidential inauguration ceremony.
