The Seoul Bangbae Police Station announced on the 21st that around 12:15 a.m., they urgently apprehended a Mr. A (63) while he was fleeing in a vehicle in the Bangbae-dong area of Seocho-gu.
According to the police, ten metal pipes and three rounds of live ammunition were found in Mr. A's vehicle at the time of his arrest. The metal pipes can be used as gun barrels. Police believe that Mr. A directly manufactured the gun barrels and the handle, and purchased the ammunition separately.
Mr. A is accused of shooting his son, Mr. B, in the chest with a homemade gun at an apartment in Songdo International City, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, around 9:31 p.m. the previous day.
Mr. A is believed to have loaded two shotgun shells containing steel balls into the gun and fired them in succession. At that time, Mr. B was reported to be with family and acquaintances to celebrate Mr. A's birthday.
The police plan to transport Mr. A to the Yeonsu Police Station in Incheon and investigate the circumstances of the homemade gun's manufacture and the motive for the crime.
