Kim Keon-hee's special investigation team reportedly conducted a search of Unification Church facilities in Gapyeong and Seoul on the 18th as part of the investigation into the 'Gunjin Law Priest solicitation suspicion.'
On that morning, Kim Keon-hee's special investigation team sent prosecutors and investigators to the Unification Church headquarters in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong, and the Seoul headquarters located in Yongsan-gu to secure documents and files from PCs.
The special investigation team plans to identify suspicions that the Unification Church made illicit solicitations to Kim Keon-hee through 'Gunjin Law Priest' Jeon Seong-bae, based on the evidence secured that day.
Jeon is suspected of receiving a diamond necklace and Chanel bag for 'Ms. Kim's gifts' from Yun, the former head of the Unification Church's global headquarters, between April and August 2022 and then delivering these items to her.
The solicitation contents included support for the Unification Church's development project on the Mekong River in Cambodia, acquisition of YTN by the Unification Church, the hosting of the United Nations' 5th office in Korea, and invitations to the presidential inauguration.
Before the case was referred to the special investigation team, during a prosecution investigation, Jeon admitted to receiving these items but claimed he had lost all of them.
