Kim Jong Un, the Chairperson of the North Korean State Affairs Commission, inspected the construction site of a large-scale sea farming base to be established in Nakwon County, North Hamgyong Province, on the 13th.
According to the Korean Central News Agency on the 14th, Kim visited the Nakwon County Sea Farming Business Office, which began construction in February, to check on the progress of the project with key officials from the Labor Party, including Jo Yong Won and Kim Jae Ryong.
Kim noted, "The modern sea farming base construction project is an innovative creative area that will certainly guarantee the efficient promotion and prospective development of more than 60 cities and counties along the coast," adding, "A lot has changed dramatically in just a few months."
He continued that the construction of the farming business office is a "strategic creative project to fundamentally enhance the material basis for boosting local economies and improving the lives of the people based on the specific environments and economic potentials of the respective regions," asserting, "Everything must be operated meticulously and practically from a prospective and scientific viewpoint."
Kim visited the dwellings built in the Nakwonpo fishing village. He evaluated the Nakwonpo fishing village as "a proud intuition about a new phase of local rural culture and our architectural art," stating, "Only our loyal military builders, infinitely devoted to the Party's cause, can create another miracle."
The Nakwon Sea Farming Office is the second sea farming office being constructed following the Sinpo Sea Farming Office completed last December. With Kim having personally turned the first sod to commemorate the start of construction in February, it is interpreted that he is pushing for completion ahead of the Labor Party founding anniversary in October to present it as an achievement.
Kim has visited the site three times during the six-month construction period, following his visit to the Sinpo Sea Farming Office site in July and attending the construction site again in November, even participating in the completion ceremony.
