It has been revealed that someone has damaged the sign at the summit of Mount Geumjeong's Godangbong, which is being designated as a national park, by attaching paper with glue.
The Busan Geumjeong District announced on the 14th that it received a report on the morning of the 11th regarding the damage to the Godangbong summit sign.
The sign has the inscription 'Godangbong,' but someone attached a yellow paper with the words 'Geumjeong' on top of the word 'Godang' using glue.
By the time the district office employees arrived at the scene around 2 p.m. on the same day, the paper with the writing had already been removed.
However, it is reported that some of the colors of the letters have peeled off due to the adhesive. The district plans to remove the remaining adhesive and other residues from the sign through a professional company.
There were no closed-circuit (CC) TVs at the scene, making it difficult to identify the culprit.
The city of Busan is in the process of designating an area of about 73,000 square kilometers of Mount Geumjeong as a national park.
Mount Geumjeong is home to 1,782 species of organisms, including 13 endangered species such as otters and the Eurasian eagle-owl. It is the representative mountain of Busan, featuring 60 natural scenic resources like cliffs and wetlands, along with 105 cultural resources.
