Seoul has experienced tropical nights for the eighth consecutive day. In Gangneung, an extremely tropical night occurred overnight with temperatures surpassing 30 degrees.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the nightly low in Seoul from 6 p.m. the previous day to 9 a.m. on this day was recorded at 26.8 degrees. Starting from the 29th of last month through the 6th of July, the nightly low temperature has exceeded 25 degrees for eight consecutive days. When the overnight temperature exceeds 25 degrees, it is recorded as a tropical night.
In Gangwon's Gangneung, the minimum temperature overnight reached 30.8 degrees, resulting in an extremely tropical night. This surpassed the temperatures recorded on the 1st and 2nd, which were previously classified as extremely tropical nights. Previously, the minimum temperatures in Gangneung on the night of the 1st and 2nd were recorded at 30.8 degrees and 30.4 degrees, respectively. An extremely tropical night means that the minimum temperature exceeds 30 degrees.
In the metropolitan area, tropical nights were recorded in Suwon (25.7 degrees) and Incheon (25.1 degrees). The Korea Meteorological Administration also reported that regions in Gangwon, including Sokcho (28.1 degrees), Donghae (26.9 degrees), Wonju (26.4 degrees), and Chuncheon (25.8 degrees), recorded minimum overnight temperatures exceeding 25 degrees.
Additionally, in the Chungcheong region, tropical nights occurred in Cheongju (27 degrees), Daejeon (26.5 degrees), and Boryung (25.7 degrees), while in the Jeolla region, it was noted in Jeonju (26.2 degrees) and Yeosu (25.6 degrees). In the Gyeongsang region, temperatures in Pohang (28.2 degrees), Ulsan (27.1 degrees), and Daegu (26.4 degrees) did not drop below 25 degrees overnight.
The forecast for the day's maximum temperature ranges from 29 to 37 degrees. Major regions are expected to reach high temperatures of 32 degrees in Seoul, 30 degrees in Incheon, 33 degrees in Suwon, 33 degrees in Chuncheon, 33 degrees in Gangneung, 34 degrees in Cheongju, 34 degrees in Daejeon, 34 degrees in Jeonju, 35 degrees in Gwangju, 37 degrees in Daegu, 32 degrees in Busan, and 33 degrees in Jeju.
The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "With heat wave advisories in effect nationwide, the perceived maximum temperature is expected to exceed 33 degrees, while in Gyeonggi Province, Chungcheong region, southern areas, and Jeju, temperatures are likely to rise around 35 degrees, making it very hot."
