The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 2nd that it held the first regional employment situation inspection meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister Lee Jeong-han and attended by the heads of major local government offices nationwide.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor stated that the background for holding the meeting was due to increasing economic uncertainty caused by recent high tariff policies in the United States, instability in the Middle East, and sluggish domestic demand, which raised concerns about employment instability due to the recession of key industries in the region.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to hold monthly meetings to quickly provide necessary support by understanding the regional employment decline situation.
Participants in this meeting shared the employment trends for the first half of the year by region, as well as the employment trends and outlook of major industries in the region after discussing future operational plans.
The Deputy Minister noted, "Employment crises appear first in the regions," and asked local offices to closely examine the regional employment situation.
