Shin & Kim LLC (CEO Oh Jong-han) announced on the 1st that it has recruited former Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deok-cheol as a senior advisor.
Former Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deok-cheol is an expert who has worked in the health and welfare field for approximately 33 years. He entered public service through the 31st Administrative Exam and earned his master's and doctoral degrees in public administration from the University of Speyer in Germany. He held key positions such as Director of Health Policy, Head of Health Policy Bureau, and Director of Planning and Coordination. Notably, he served as the first Vice Minister of Health and Welfare in the Moon Jae-in administration, Director of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), and the 54th Minister of Health and Welfare.
Advisor Kwon is evaluated for enhancing the status of Korea's health care through collaboration with related ministries, local governments, medical institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and international organizations as the head of the control tower for epidemic medical response to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic crisis during his time as Minister. After retiring, he has also built a reputation in academia by teaching advanced medical device studies at Jeonbuk National University.
Kwon Deok-cheol, the former Minister joining the Shin & Kim LLC Regulatory Group and Healthcare Team, is expected to play a pivotal role across the medical, pharmaceutical, medical device, and biohealth industries based on his experience and insights into the policy formulation process and comprehensive plans regarding laws such as the Medical Service Act, Health Insurance Act, Pharmaceutical Industry Development Act, Medical Device Act, Health Technology Promotion Act, Advanced Regenerative Medicine and Biopharmaceuticals Act, Medical Overseas Advancement Act, New Medical Technology Evaluation, and Digital Healthcare.

Meanwhile, the Shin & Kim LLC Healthcare Team, led by attorney Kim Seong-tae (32nd Judicial Research and Training Institute), is continuously strengthening its manpower by recruiting veteran attorney Son Jeong-hyun (34th Judicial Research and Training Institute), known for his expertise in food safety as a certified specialist this year, and Advisor Choi Byeong-cheol, who served as a full-time evaluation committee member for 16 years at the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA).
