A woman in her 50s who ignored a request to stop, rammed into a patrol car, and raced through downtown has been apprehended by the police.
The Ansan Danwon Police Station announced on the 17th that a person surnamed A was arrested in the act on charges of reckless driving and obstruction of special public duty.
Person A is accused of colliding with a vehicle from the Incheon Police Agency Highway Patrol near the Siheung City Jeongwang-dong Siheung IC around 6 a.m. that day and fleeing the scene, ignoring police orders to stop while continuing to escape and hitting six patrol cars.
The police mobilized a total of 12 patrol cars and pursued person A for about 13 km before surrounding and apprehending them on the morning of the 17th around 6:30 a.m. on a road in Choji-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan, approximately 30 minutes after the incident occurred. No injuries were reported during this process.
The results of a breath test revealed that person A had not consumed any alcohol. The police plan to conduct further tests to confirm any drug use.
In addition, person A self-harmed with a utility knife on a desk in the Criminal Investigation Division office after finishing a meeting with family during the police investigation around 1 p.m. that day and received hospital treatment.
The injury is reported to be minor. The police are reviewing whether to proceed with emergency hospitalization due to concerns over person A's psychological state.
