The 2028 College Scholastic Ability Test, which current first-year high school students will take as test takers, will be held on Nov. 18, 2027.
On the 1st, the Ministry of Education announced the test dates, score notification date, and testing areas for the 2028 College Scholastic Ability Test. The score notification date is Dec. 10, 2027.
The 2028 College Scholastic Ability Test will be the first exam administered under the revised college admission system, which eliminates elective subjects in the Korean, Math, and Inquiry areas. The Ministry of Education announced this revision plan in December 2023 to accommodate situations where advantages and disadvantages in college admissions are determined by the choice of specific subjects.
Currently, students can select up to two subjects from nine in the Social Inquiry area and eight in the Science Inquiry area for the exam. From the 2028 College Scholastic Ability Test onward, students will be required to take the Common Social and Common Science subjects as mandatory. However, they must choose one out of nine subjects in the Second Foreign Language and Classical Chinese areas.
The number of questions and test duration for each area will remain the same for Korean, Math, and English as now. Korean will have 45 questions in 80 minutes, Math will have 30 questions in 100 minutes, and English will have 45 questions in 70 minutes. The Inquiry area will change from 20 questions in 30 minutes per subject to 25 questions in 40 minutes. The Second Foreign Language and Classical Chinese will be reduced from 30 questions in 40 minutes to 20 questions in 30 minutes.
The Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, the organization responsible for the College Scholastic Ability Test, plans to announce the basic plan for the 2028 College Scholastic Ability Test, which includes the principles of question setting, in March 2027.
