On the 31st, the Seoul Suseo Police Station stated that they had applied for an arrest warrant for election official Mr. A on the previous day on suspicion of proxy voting under the Public Official Election Act.
Mr. A is suspected of issuing a ballot with his husband's identification card and completing a proxy vote around noon on the 29th at the Daechi 2-dong early voting site, and then voting with his own identification card about five hours later.
Police were dispatched around 5:11 p.m. after receiving a report from an observer of independent presidential candidate Hwang Kyo-ahn that there was a voter who had voted twice, and they urgently arrested Mr. A.
Mr. A, a contract worker at the Gangnam-gu Health Center, was appointed as an election official and was found to have been responsible for issuing ballots to voters.
