The Seoul City Bus Transportation Business Association noted on the 27th, "The union stated on the bulletin boards of each branch that 'members who do not participate in the strike on the 28th will have their scholarship and student loan funds suspended.'"
The association released a statement that day, saying, "It is a discrimination against employment conditions for the labor union to provide scholarships and student loans differentially." According to the association, the welfare funds for scholarships and student loans provided to the labor union are part of a benefits system that is managed jointly by the Seoul city and the Seoul Bus Association, targeting all workers.
In response, the association stated, "We will actively consider measures such as reclaiming the welfare funds and directly operating the benefits system."
Additionally, the association requested its members to refrain from striking. The association said, "The Seoul Bus Union is unwavering in its intention to strike for the second consecutive year" and "The Seoul City Bus Transportation Business Association expresses serious concerns about the labor union's awareness of the situation, which is to conduct a strike at the cost of the citizens' collateral inconvenience."
In doing so, the association said, "What is immediately necessary for the convenience of Seoul citizens is sincere negotiations between labor and management," and "We ask you to refrain from this reckless strike that tries to enforce its demands by putting the commuting routes of Seoul citizens at stake."
