The amount that office workers deem appropriate for congratulatory money for a colleague's wedding is 100,000 won.
Incruit surveyed 844 office workers from the 20th to the 22nd to find out how much the appropriate wedding congratulatory money for colleagues is this year and reported the findings on the 26th.
When attending a wedding and having a meal, 61.8% of respondents chose 100,000 won as the appropriate congratulatory money. This was followed by ▲50,000 won 32.8% ▲less than 50,000 won 3.2% ▲150,000 won 1.4%.
In the case of close office colleagues, 20,000 won was deemed appropriate by 14.3% of respondents. This was followed by 150,000 won 12.7%, and 50,000 won 9.4%. Colleagues involved in collaboration and work recorded ▲50,000 won 30% ▲less than 50,000 won 3.8% ▲150,000 won 3.3%.
In a similar survey conducted about two years ago in 2023, 50,000 won (65.1%) was the predominant amount deemed appropriate for colleagues who met only during collaboration. However, it has been identified that the amount has increased by 50,000 won due to rising prices.
The most common source of wedding invitations received by office colleagues was from collaborators (44.4%). This was followed by all office colleagues who received an invitation (28.2%) and close colleagues (25.9%).
Respondents who answered that they would not attend a colleague's wedding cited reasons (multiple responses allowed) such as ▲not close enough to attend the wedding (33.3%) ▲personal schedule comes first (25%) ▲financial burden of congratulatory money is significant (16.7%).
