The government announced on the 21st that it has selected 23 public officials and 5 organizations as "the 5th recipients of the active administration commendation."
The award recipients include ▲ 4 for the medal ▲ 6 for the citation ▲ 8 for the President's commendation (2 organizations) ▲ 10 for the Prime Minister's commendation (3 organizations). Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Joo-ho directly awarded the commendations to 8 major contributors.
The Green Medal of Merit was awarded to Chief Superintendent Sung Dae-hoon of the Korea Coast Guard and Deputy Director Lee Min-jeong of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Chief Superintendent Sung was recognized for developing a system to automatically identify maritime distress signals, which established a rapid and accurate disaster safety response system. Deputy Director Lee was praised for her contributions to the transition to new industries in livestock manure management by removing regulations through interdepartmental communication.
The Blue Medal of Merit was awarded to Assistant Deputy Director Kim Dong-gon of Busan City. He discovered a new collection technique for seizing hidden convertible bonds, confiscating 4 billion won in hidden convertible bonds and collecting 200 million won in unpaid taxes.
The National Medal of Honor was awarded to Director Kang Ho-cheol of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation for being the first in the bottled water industry to introduce information patterns (QR codes) and attempting to transition to an environmentally friendly production paradigm.
The Commendation for Active Administration was awarded to 5 individuals, including Deputy Director Gong Yoon-jung of the Personal Information Protection Commission, who contributed to resolving legal issues related to personal information protection necessary for developing a voice phishing prevention service, and Assistant Deputy Director Lee Hyun-woo of Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi Province, who improved the structure for collecting and recycling discarded appliances free of charge, being the first in the country to do so.
The National Commendation was awarded to Chief Kim Kyung-in of the Korea Internet and Security Agency. He was recognized for providing a solution to protect national safety and lives through an AI ambulance service using artificial intelligence and cloud technology.
In addition, 6 individuals, including Director Jeon Yu-seon of the Korea Financial Cooperation Agency, who launched the "Seonggyeong Finance Itda," a comprehensive financial platform tailored for low-income individuals, received Presidential commendations.
Additionally, Presidential commendations were given to 7 individuals, including Assistant Deputy Director Chae Seok-tae of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, who apprehended the operators of Noonoo TV, an illegal real-time streaming site, as well as to 3 organizations.
The government plans to provide personnel benefits such as promotions and financial incentives in accordance with the achievements of active administration moving forward.
