Director General Ji Gwi-yeon of the Seoul Central District Court, who is presiding over the rebellion leader charges against former President Yoon Seok-youl, stated on the 19th regarding the 'room salon escort allegations' raised by the Democratic Party of Korea, 'It is not true.'
Director General Ji entered courtroom 417 of the Seoul Central District Court on the morning of the same day at 10:15 a.m. and said, 'I mention this because I believe that if we do not discuss this, it would be difficult for this trial to gain trust.'
Director General Ji stated, 'I usually enjoy pork belly with soju,' and added, 'I have never thought about being entertained at places like that (room salons).' He continued, 'That era itself does not exist anymore,' and noted, 'There is also no one who pays for pork belly and soju anymore.'
He noted, 'In the current situation where major trials are in full swing, external stimuli or attacks through continuous allegations based on the investigation of judges have an impact on the trial's progress. Going forward, I and the court will strive for a swift and fair trial in accordance with the legal procedures.'
Director General Ji is responsible for the first trial of the rebellion charges against former President Yoon Seok-youl and had previously made a decision to cancel his arrest in March, leading to his release.
Kim Yong-min, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned during the plenary session of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 14th that he received specific information alleging, 'I have drunk several times at room salons costing about 1 million to 2 million won per person, and I have never paid a single time.' Democratic Party member Kim Gi-pyo also revealed two photos, stating, 'This is a bar located in Gangnam, Seoul, filmed in August last year.'
Subsequently, the Supreme Court stated on the 16th, 'We are confirming the facts based on parliamentary materials and media reports following the allegations against the relevant judge.'
