Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Joo-ho said on the 13th regarding the cyber intrusion incident at SK Telecom and the leaking of subscriber information, "Please prepare measures to prevent recurrence."
On that day, the acting prime minister chaired a Cabinet meeting at the Government Seoul Building and noted, "Many citizens are experiencing inconvenience and anxiety due to the cyber intrusion incident and the subscriber information leak at SK Telecom in April."
The acting prime minister stated regarding follow-up instructions related to this situation, "The information and communication order is one of the foundations supporting modern society and has a significant impact on each citizen's daily life," and asked that "the Ministry of Science and ICT and relevant agencies conduct a thorough investigation into the root causes and develop practical measures to prevent recurrence."
He also said, "The Ministry of Science and ICT should take action with the telecom companies and continuously inform the public of the response situation."
The acting prime minister also noted that public officials must maintain their neutrality during the official campaign period for the 21st presidential election, which started on the 12th.
He stated, "All departments must work together to ensure that the upcoming election is cleaner and safer than ever and achieves national unity," adding that "especially all public officials should firmly maintain political neutrality during the election period and concentrate on their assigned duties without wavering."
Furthermore, the acting prime minister mentioned, "With more rain and localized heavy rain expected than usual, I will announce summer natural disaster measures this week," and stated, "The government is conducting intensive safety inspections of over 22,000 facilities nationwide from April 14 to June 13."
