The appeal trial for Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, regarding the 'perjury instigation case' has been postponed until after the presidential election. In the first trial of this case, Lee was acquitted. Previously, the appeals trial regarding Lee's violation of the Public Official Election Act and the first trial of the Daejang-dong case were also postponed by the court until after the election.
On the 12th, the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 3 (Presiding Judge Lee Seung-han), which is reviewing the perjury instigation case of Lee, announced that the scheduled court date for the 20th of this month has been changed to 'set for a later date.' The court noted, 'Considering the defendant (Lee Jae-myung) registered as a presidential candidate last weekend.'
Previously, on the 7th, the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 7, which is in charge of Lee's violation of the Public Official Election Act appeal trial, led by Director General Lee Jae-kwon, postponed the first trial originally scheduled for the 15th to June 18th, after the presidential election.
On the same day, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 33 (Director General Lee Jin-gwan), which is handling Lee's Daejang-dong, Wirye, Baekhyeon-dong, and Seongnam FC cases, also postponed the scheduled court date from the 13th to June 24th.
