The average reservoir level for agricultural reservoirs nationwide is 84.0%, which is 106.2% compared to normal (79.1%).
The government has decided to allocate a drought preparedness budget of 10.6 billion won to 165 districts in 42 cities and counties to support the establishment of water supply facilities. This is a measure to address the chronic water shortages in farmlands lacking water supply capacity ahead of the main farming season. In addition, it stated that it will monitor and manage the drought situation to ensure that there are no disruptions in water supply for rice planting in May and June.
The water levels of 19 multi-purpose dams and 12 water supply dams, which are major sources of domestic and industrial water, are at 124.7% and 91.6% of normal, respectively.
However, the supply areas for Boryung Dam, including eight cities and counties in Chungcheongnam-do, Jeonnam Yeonggwang, and the supply areas for Unmun Dam, such as Daegu and Dalseong, as well as three counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do, are managed at the 'concern' level. The supply areas for Yeongcheon Dam, which include three cities in Gyeongsangbuk-do, are being managed at the 'caution' level.
Some island areas, including Incheon Jung-gu, Ongjin-gun, Jeonnam Jindo-gun, and Gyeongnam Tongyeong-si, are conducting emergency water supply considering local characteristics.
The government stated that it will check the drought situation alongside relevant ministries and announce monthly drought warnings and advisories while implementing drought preparedness measures.
