Five medical schools have notified the expulsion of 1,916 students who were absent without notice for more than one month in accordance with school regulations.
The Ministry of Education said, "Based on school regulations, when students are absent without notice for more than one month, we have notified today the imminent expulsion of the five schools, and we plan to process the expulsion of students who have not returned." on the 2nd.
According to the Ministry of Education, as of this day, schools that have notified expulsion to students who were absent without notice for more than one month include Soonchunhyang University (606), Eulji University (299), Inje University (557), and Cha University (190). Including Konyang University (264), which is expected to notify of expulsion today, there are a total of five schools.
Accordingly, the total number of medical students who will face expulsion from the five medical schools is 1,916.
The Ministry of Education noted, "As a result of the meeting of the Deans of Medical Schools on the 30th of last month, there will be no further academic flexibility measures, and we have reconfirmed the principle that school regulations will be applied in the event of academic failure or expulsion cases," adding, "Students who fail to return and cause reasons for academic failure or expulsion will undergo the relevant procedures in accordance with school regulations."
Earlier, the Ministry of Education had sent a document on April 30 requesting the submission of a list of students subject to academic failure and expulsion from 40 medical schools across the country by the 7th.
