The decision on whether to detain a 17-year-old identified as A, who injured six people including a teacher by wielding a weapon inside and outside a high school in Cheongju, is expected to be made as early as the 30th.
According to legal sources, the Cheongju District Court conducted a pre-arrest interrogation of A, who faces charges including attempted murder, starting at 2 p.m. on the same day. A appeared at the court around 1:25 p.m. to attend the hearing. When questioned by reporters, he bowed his head and said "I apologize" twice before entering the building.
A is accused of using physical force during a conversation with a counseling teacher in a special needs classroom at around 8:30 a.m. on the 28th and subsequently injuring six people, including a teacher and residents, by wielding a weapon. A reportedly told police that "school life is very difficult, so I prepared a weapon to harm anyone."
