It has been confirmed that not only Lee Cheol-kyu, a member of the People Power Party,'s son but also his daughter-in-law tested positive for marijuana, according to results from the National Forensic Service.
The Seoul Seocho Police Station announced on the 23rd that they received notification from the National Forensic Service indicating that the daughter-in-law of the member also tested positive for marijuana. However, a police official noted, "The member's daughter-in-law has a weak charge, so a warrant for arrest was not requested separately."
The member's son is accused of attempting to collect liquid marijuana hidden in a flowerbed in a residential area of Seocho District using the so-called "throwing" method last October. The throwing method involves the seller hiding drugs in a place inconspicuous and only informing the buyer. At the time, the member's daughter-in-law was also in the rented car used for the crime.
The member's son arrived at the Seoul Central District Court around 10:09 a.m. and attended the pre-arrest investigation hearing. The hearing started at 10:30 a.m. before Director General Lee Jeong-jae at the Seoul Central District Court. A decision on detention is expected as early as that afternoon.
The passenger A, who was also charged as a suspect alongside the member's son, and the seller B, who attempted to sell drugs to them, also tested positive for marijuana, leading to the filing of arrest warrants. The court rejected the arrest warrant for A after a hearing the previous day. The hearing for B regarding the warrant will take place at 10:50 a.m. today.
