A male teacher at a girls' high school in Incheon has sparked controversy by stating during class that it's fair for women of childbearing age to go to prison if they do not give birth.
According to the Incheon City Office of Education on the 21st, a post recently appeared on X (formerly Twitter) stating that 'Namsung High School male teacher A said during class that women who do not give birth should be sent to prison.' An audio file containing A's voice was also attached to this post.
In the audio file, teacher A said regarding the Constitutional Court's decision declaring the military points system unconstitutional, 'I think it's the worst ruling.' He added, 'Men go to prison if they don't serve in the military, but women have never gone to prison for not giving birth.'
Teacher A also stated, 'That's why the birth rate dropped to 0.67,' and insisted, 'We should send women who do not give birth to prison, especially those of childbearing age.' He is reported to have made these remarks during a political and legal studies class on the 17th.
The Incheon City Office of Education is investigating how many students heard the teacher's remarks and whether other statements were made. The office is expected to review the circumstances of the statements to determine whether disciplinary action will be taken against teacher A.
