Comedian Jin-ho Lee has been handed over to prosecutors on charges of illegal gambling.
According to police on the 18th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station transferred Jin-ho Lee on the 15th on gambling charges. Earlier, the police initiated an investigation after receiving a civil complaint through the National Complaint Center asking for an investigation of Jin-ho Lee's gambling and fraud allegations.
Jin-ho Lee admitted to illegal gambling through social media (SNS) last October. He stated, "I started playing games on an illegal online gambling site by chance in 2020," and noted, "I ended up with debt that was unbearable." He also said, "I will repay the remaining debt at all costs."
Police believe that the money Jin-ho Lee spent on illegal online gambling amounts to several hundred million won. It has been reported that he borrowed money not only from lending companies but also from fellow entertainers. It is known that members of BTS, including Jimin, comedian Soo-geun Lee, and singer Ha Sung-woon, also lent him money.
