Author Han Kang will publish her first book since winning the Nobel Prize in Literature, a collection of essays titled "Light and Shadow."
The publishing company Munhakdongne announced on the 17th that it plans to release "Light and Shadow" as the ninth book in its essay series "Munji Écriture." The scheduled release date is the 24th.
"Light and Shadow" is the title of the lecture that Han Kang gave in Stockholm, Sweden, prior to the Nobel Prize in Literature award ceremony last December. This essay collection includes Han Kang's Nobel Prize acceptance lecture, as well as previously unpublished poetry, essays, and garden diaries.
Han Kang has not appeared in public since the Nobel Prize award ceremony. Following the announcement of this new book, she is reported to have no plans for media interviews or meetings with readers.
Focusing on her writing, Han Kang is expected to release the final work of her "Winter Trilogy" as early as this year. It will be a novel connecting the two short stories, "While a Snowflake Melts," which won the Hwang Sun-won Literary Award, and "Farewell," which won the Kim Yoo-jung Literary Award.
