A suspect who stole valuables from broadcaster Park Na-rae's (40) home was arrested, amid warnings that programs showcasing celebrities' homes could lead to crime.
Profiler Bae Sang-hoon appeared on YTN Radio on the 15th and noted, "The police seem to have apprehended someone while investigating criminals who mainly target celebrities or entertainers around Hannam-dong." He added, "In my view, the suspect appears to be primarily targeting celebrities or entertainers. "
Regarding the suspect's claim that he did not know it was Park's house, he said, "There's no way he wouldn't know. If you go around, you can easily tell that it's Park's house. It just doesn't make sense logically," and added, "Considering he has a history of multiple offenses, that's something a criminal says to get a favorable sentence in court."
He continued, "Especially in Park's case, revealing the house where she actually lives is extremely dangerous," and stated, "Professional burglars can figure out how the security system is set up with just a few scenes."
Profiler Bae Sang-hoon stated, "Park herself was in danger. That kind of broadcasting should not have happened." He also noted, "In places like Hollywood in the U.S., there have been cases where intruders have shot firearms while trying to steal belongings from celebrities' homes. Without a scheduled presence, Park Na-rae could be there, or family or acquaintances might be staying. So it's very dangerous. Burglary always presents the risk of robbery."
He added, "The agency should undergo security consulting to prepare for this," highlighting, "Since there are criminals who specifically target, certain limits must be observed."
Park reported to the police on the 8th that valuables worth tens of millions of won, including precious metals, were stolen from her house in Yongsan District. The Seoul Yongsan Police Station announced the arrest of suspect A on the 10th, who is currently under investigation.
Park purchased a detached house in Itaewon, Yongsan District, Seoul, for about 5.5 billion won in 2021. The property gained attention after she revealed it through the MBC entertainment program "I Live Alone."
