YouTuber "Jji-yang" (real name Park Jeong-won) who filed a complaint against Garosero Research Institute representative Kim Se-woo for stalking and other charges appeared at the police station on the 16th and refused to be questioned after about 40 minutes.
According to police, Jji-yang appeared at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul around 8:47 a.m. that day as the complainant. Shortly after, around 9:35 a.m., Jji-yang refused the questioning and left the police station.
Jji-yang's lawyer Kim Tae-yeon stated to reporters, "The police did not seem to consider Jji-yang a victim at all, and it seemed there was no intention to protect the victim," adding, "There was also no information provided regarding the prosecution's instructions for supplemental investigation, so we have no choice but to doubt whether a fair investigation is possible."
Jji-yang also said, "I hope the investigation is conducted fairly so that no more victims come out." Jji-yang's side is considering filing a request to avoid specific investigators.
Earlier, attorney Kim explained that prior to the police investigation, Kim Se-woo had mentioned Jji-yang on broadcasts 30 to 40 times from July to October of last year, continuously harassing her. Kim Se-woo revealed related recordings, claiming that Jji-yang was threatened by YouTuber Gyu-jae (real name Lee Jun-hee) in July of last year, stating that Jji-yang's past work in the entertainment industry was used against her.
Jji-yang later stated that she had no choice but to work in the entertainment industry due to assault and coercion from her ex-boyfriend, but Kim Se-woo continued to broadcast in a way that suggested this explanation was not true. Jji-yang filed a complaint against Kim Se-woo for violations of the Stalking Punishment Law and charges of threats and coercion.
The police made a decision not to forward charges against Kim Se-woo last February due to insufficient evidence, but the prosecution accepted Jji-yang's objection and requested a supplemental investigation from the police.
